We are disappointed to see a portakabin in the grounds of a new school and suggested that maybe the permission should be temporary hoping that a more permanent solution could be implemented later.

We are disappointed to see an application for portakabin classroom within the groundsof a new school. We understand the need for the additional classroom but consider that thepermission should be temporary, such that a more permanent solution could be implementedwhen funds allow.

It is disappointing that the Council's own development is such a poor design andsubmission, which fails to properly illustrate the impact of the development on the site and itssurroundings. The building's design and its landscape setting were key material considerations tothe determination of the original planning application for the development of the primary school, which required amendment and improvement of the scheme before planning permission wasgranted. The current proposal will compromise the design of the existing school and degrade itslandscape setting to the detriment of the site and the high quality residential context which itadjoins. A better sited, superior architectural solution to the functional portacabin is necessary.

While I understand the demands on the school and the need for additionalaccommodation I would hope that approval of the application would lead to the revision of streetparking and introduction of one way traffic routing in the neighbourhood to reduce traffic chaos andencourage walking and cycling to and from the school.
